2018 KIA STINGER
2018 KIA STINGER
KMA (Kia Motors America) today stole the limelight with the world debut of the new Kia Stinger 2018. At the North American International AutoShow The KIA Stinger promises to be the highest-performance production vehicle in the company's history and is backed by the industry-leading quality and reliability by Kia Motors. Offered with multiple engine configurations and luxurious amenities, KIA Stinger 2018 is planned to be sold in the US.
From its elegant front clip to its slender sides, the KIA Stinger emanates a muscular appearance. The key to their presence on the road are the proportions of rear-wheel drive; A long hood and a short front overhang, an extended wheelbase to provide a spacious cabin and a protruding rear. The stance and visual balance of the KIA Stinger are designed to give the car an air of elegance and athleticism, rather than an ordinary appearance.
The wide base of the wheels, together with the contours lowered along the doors, improve the power of the KIA Stinger, as well as its silhouette fastback. Other purely functional exterior design elements - front air curtains, smooth underside, wheel arches, and integrated rear diffuser - aid in its aerodynamic efficiency. The rear apron houses four oval exhaust pipes. The well-known "tiger-nose" Kia grille sits proudly among LED headlamps.
The cabin lowers with its steep windshields and backlighting, sits in the rear of the vehicle, creating a quick silhouette. Inside is a space dedicated to the thrill of driving while the occupants travel luxuriously and comfortably. Ultra-soft Nappa leather available covers the deeply contoured seats and the driver's seat has air cells in the backrest as well as cushioning for optimum support and comfort. A reliable dashboard creates a strong horizontal plane for the driver to easily work with. The center console is intuitively divided into two specific areas: information and entertainment controls are positioned perfectly beneath a large color touch screen, while climate and ventilation controls are located below. At the front and center of the driver there is a thick steering wheel, wrapped in leather and a single dial with a combination of analog and digital instrumentation. Large gauges are banged in metal and accented with red needles. A color TFT display between the gauges transmits performance data such as curve G forces, return times and engine oil temperature, as well as auxiliary information such as the trip computer, diagnosis, navigation and driver configuration. The aeronautical inspired radial circular openings are located on the front and rear and a satin chrome surrounds the cabin. The effect is a pleasant atmosphere of intimacy.
Establishing the difficult points of fabrication of the chassis is what would define the KIA Stinger and the engineers looked carefully through a landscape dotted with contenders. At 114.4 in., the wheelbase of the KIA Stinger is longer than the BMW 4 Gran Coupe, Audi A4, Infiniti Q50, Lexus IS and even the Lexus GS and Mercedes CLS. It is generally longer (190.2 in.) and wider (73.6 in.) than the others in this segment, allowing for spacious accommodation. The KIA Stinger's cargo area is also larger than many in its class, with enough space for full-size luggage or golf bags and also has an electric tailgate with Smart Trunk functionality.
Mounted on a 55 percent high strength steel body, the KIA Stinger provides an ultra-rigid base with which test engineers can work. This rigidity also helps reduce NVH and a quiet cabin. The MacPherson and multi-link rear suspension has been tuned to provide optimum feedback for the driver. Something new in a Kia car 2018, the cushioning of the gear and the handling characteristics of the vehicle can be modified by the driver through an electronically adjustable suspension known as "Dynamic Stability Damping Control". Always reacting predictably to driver inputs, depending on road conditions and driving style, the KIA Stinger can be adjusted to respond more agilely through the corners, As the system softens the front shocks and strengthens the rear. Conversely, improved high-speed stability is achieved when the system stiffens the front shocks and softens the rear. The system is accessed through five drive modes: Comfortable, Personal, Eco, Sporty and Smart.
Standard Variable Ratio "R-MDPS" (Motor Driven Power Steering) provides crisp feedback by directly mounting the electric motor in the steering frame, improving it and reducing undesired transmission vibration through the column. The steering impulse can also be adjusted through the five selectable drive modes.
Propulsion system KIAStinger 2018
If the chassis symbolizes the bones of a large tourism, then surely the available propulsion system represents your heart. Longitudinally oriented and placed backwards, under the long and sculpted hood, two turbo engines are available.
While both engines are still under development, the standard 2.0-l. turbocharged four-cylinder Theta II engine produces an estimated 255 horsepower at approximately 6,200rpm. The maximum torque of 260 lbs.- ft. It is available from 1,400 - 4,000 rpm. Yields are further enhanced through the available 3.3-l. Lambda 2 V6 turbo engine which is expected to produce 365 horsepower at an estimated 6,000 rpm and offers a maximum of 376 lbs.- ft. From 1,300 to 4,500 rpm. Kia aims to reach 62 mph in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 167 mph with the V6 twin turbo.
The KIA Stinger features a second generation eight-speed automatic rear transmission. Like the K900 luxury sedan, the gearbox has been designed by Kia rewards drivers with crisp changes and to maximize fuel efficiency. Typically found in aviation and racing engine applications, this transmission features the first use of a CPA (Centrifugal Pendulum Absorber) centrifugal pendulum damper to help reduce torsional vibrations through the drivetrain". Drivers may allow the gearbox to manage the changes on its own or may selectively run through the gears via the paddles mounted at the stern of the steering wheel. As with suspension and steering, Up to five different shift patterns can be selected by means of the vehicle electronic drive system. The throttle mapping also fits the taste.
Recognizing that passionate drivers can not always live in optimum climates, the KIA Stinger is the first Kia sedan available with rear or full-wheel drive. The AWD system incorporates a new "Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control" dynamic torque vector control system that controls driver inputs and road conditions and automatically applies proper braking force and wheel force to maintain course in adverse conditions . Rear-wheel drive vehicles benefit from a limited slip mechanical differential to help evenly distribute power through the rear wheels.
A selection of alloy wheels and tires is also offered. The 2.0-l. turbocharged 4-cylinder models are fitted with 225/45R-18 performance tires while the 3.3-l. V6 is wrapped with ultra-high performance step rubber; 225/40R-19 at the front and 255/36R-19 at the rear. Vented Brembo disc brakes are standard on the 3.3-l. turbocharged duo and feature four-piston front calipers and dual-piston rear calipers.
Convenience and Advanced Technology KIAStinger 2018
Offering luxury amenities and unexpected features already became part of Kia's DNA and the KIA Stinger continues this tradition. ADAS (Advanced multiple driver assistance systems) work seamlessly to enhance the driving experience.
Something new for Kia is the DAA (Driver Attention Alert System ) 4 to help combat distracted or drowsy driving. The system monitors a series of inputs by the vehicle or the driver and emits a sound warning and displays a chart in instrument quadrant when it is time to take a break if you feel that the level of attention of the driver has reduced considerably.
FCA (Front End Collision Assistance) 3 with Integrated AEB (3) with Pedestrian Detection can detect a possible collision with another vehicle or pedestrian and can help to stop the vehicle. The ASCC (Advanced Intelligent Cruise Control) 3 maintains a preset distance between the KIA Stinger and the vehicle in the front, causing the car to stop completely in congested traffic. LKA (Lane Keep Assist) 3 monitors the vehicle's intended lane and sends an audible warning to the driver and provides steering input to help maintain the vehicle's position.
Connectivity, entertainment and vehicle information can be as important as a dynamic driving experience and the KIA Stinger comes to market with the latest information and entertainment systems. The adjustable height of the HUD (Head-Up) 5 color display screen allows the driver to view key information on reflected glass driving, audio adjustments, step-by-step navigation and cruise control, and The information of detection of blind spots. Resting inside the center console is a Smartphone wireless charging cushion and Bluetooth6 hands-free operation is standard while many of the vehicle's subsystems can be accessed through the steering wheel mounted controls.
Long distance journeys are a hallmark of the great tourism experience and there are a trio of high performance audio systems designed to turn the interior into a dynamic concert hall. The base audio system for the 2.0-l. turbo features six loudspeakers and a seven-in. touch screen with the latest version of UVO, Kia's award-winning telematics systems. The standard system found in the 3.3-l. turbo increases the number of loudspeakers up to nine and includes an external amplifier. The high-quality Harman / Kardon7 premium audio system pumps 720 watts through an external amplifier to provide perfectly clear music.
